Kennedy Center Updates Logo Following Court Ruling to Remove Trump’s Name

Trump s name removed from Kennedy – The Kennedy Center has updated its website logo to exclude the name “Trump” after a federal judge mandated the removal of the former president’s name from the institution’s branding. While the large signage on the building’s exterior still displays “Donald J. Trump,” the center’s general counsel outlined in a memo to staff that all internal materials must reflect the name change by June 12. This includes email signatures, letterhead, and marketing content, which were to be revised immediately to align with the court’s directive.

Court Order Details

In the memo obtained by CNN, the general counsel emphasized that “you must immediately change email signatures, letterhead, and other documents to reflect the name as ‘The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts,’ or ‘Kennedy Center.'” Additional adjustments, such as updates to templates, forms, and website pages, were required by June 12, 2026. The decision follows a December vote by Trump’s loyalist board to rename the center, which previously featured “Trump Kennedy Center” in its branding.

“To comply with this order, you must immediately change email signatures, letterhead, and other documents to reflect the name as ‘The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts,’ or ‘Kennedy Center,'” the general counsel wrote.

President Trump initially expressed dissatisfaction with the ruling, stating on Truth Social that he intended to hand over full control of the performing arts center to Congress. However, he later revised his stance, indicating that he would proceed with plans to renovate the facility. “I’m the chairman, so we’ll just keep it going. Somebody has to do it,” Trump told reporters on Air Force One, adding that “everybody, they want me to stay very badly, so we’re going to take a look at it.”

Mark Twain Prize Event

This month, the Kennedy Center will honor comedian Bill Maher with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, featuring a gala performance with prominent comedic figures. The event’s email announcement listed Louis C.K., Whitney Cummings, Woody Harrelson, Arianna Huffington, Jay Leno, John Mellencamp, and Stephen A. Smith as participants. Performance-only tickets start at $99, with more expensive packages priced at $750 and $1,500.
