Epstein Assistant Claims Late Sex Offender Was Master Manipulator, No Knowledge of Crimes
Longtime Epstein assistant paints late sex offender – Lesley Groff, a long-time associate of Jeffrey Epstein, testified before the House Oversight Committee, asserting she was unaware of the late sex offender’s alleged misconduct. Groff described Epstein as a highly skilled manipulator who intentionally concealed his crimes from her, a claim that has sparked debate among investigators and survivors. While her testimony emphasized a lack of personal knowledge, it also highlighted her close ties to the financier and the complex web of relationships that surrounded his operations.
Close Ties to Epstein’s Inner Circle
As Epstein’s executive assistant, Groff was deeply embedded in his daily activities, managing schedules, coordinating travel, and acting as a liaison between the financier and influential figures. Her role included organizing appointments with young women, a task she described as routine, involving “simple administrative duties like booking massages.” Despite her proximity to Epstein, she maintained that she was not privy to the sexual abuse allegations that later surfaced. Federal prosecutors had previously listed her as a potential co-conspirator in a 2008 non-prosecution agreement, but her legal team insisted she had no direct knowledge of the misconduct.
“Groff’s testimony leaves many questions unanswered,” remarked one legal analyst. “She presented herself as a victim of Epstein’s manipulation, but her actions suggest she was complicit in his ability to operate under the radar. Survivors deserve clarity, not just claims of innocence.”
Testimony Amidst Personal Struggles
Groff’s account of Epstein’s manipulative tactics came during a period of personal turmoil, as she described feeling isolated since his arrest. Friends and family have reportedly distanced themselves from her, while she expressed a desire to cooperate with investigators. The House Oversight Committee, led by Chairman James Comer, welcomed her insights, noting that “no topics were off-limits” during her session. With 14 interviews already conducted, the committee is piecing together a comprehensive narrative of Epstein’s activities, including his alleged use of Groff as a key conduit to young victims.
During a 2021 FBI interview, Groff described the massage sessions as “another task she had to manage for Epstein,” a phrase that underscores her role in facilitating his interactions.
