“They basically have said that the disclosure to the public and the media of the details and evidence of the killing of their parents will cause them additional trauma and harm, and they have respectively asked for the court to keep the transcript sealed,” Hochman said.
Prosecutors do not believe public access to the records would create legal prejudice in the criminal case, Hochman said, but they will follow the court’s decision. The judge noted that news organizations may seek access by filing a motion to unseal the transcripts.

Last month, Jake Reiner spoke about the impact of his parents’ deaths and the difficulty he and Romy have faced in trying to process what happened. He said no explanation or future disclosure of facts could make the loss understandable to him.
“I’ll never understand, I don’t care how it was explained to me, I don’t care what facts come out, I will never understand why this happened,” Jake Reiner said.
He did not address whether the accusations against his brother had surprised him. He did say that he had not spoken with Nick since the arrest.

Jamie Lee Curtis later ended the ceremony’s “In Memoriam” segment with an emotional tribute to the couple.
“(Rob) was generous and kind and funny as hell and a friend to all, and we all miss Rob and Michele and all those we lost this year,” Curtis said.
The murder case remains pending, and Nick Reiner is presumed innocent unless guilt is established in court. With capital punishment removed from consideration, future proceedings will focus on the evidence supporting the murder charges, the defense response and whether a jury ultimately finds the allegations proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
