Another significant moment came from "Widow’s Bay," a horror-comedy series starring Matthew Rhys as a mayor battling supernatural forces. The show’s 19 nominations underscore its popularity, despite some critiques about its evolving quality. Surprisingly, "The Bear" also made it to the comedy series category, even as it showed signs of stagnation, with Ayo Edebiri and Rob Reiner earning nods but Jeremy Allen White overlooked despite prior category triumphs.

Rhys, who played a menacing billionaire in "The Beast in Me," added another nomination in the limited series category. His wife, Keri Russell, was similarly honored for her role as a steadfast US ambassador in the Netflix drama "The Diplomat." The 2026 Emmy ceremony will be hosted by Mariska Hargitay, star of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," on Monday, September 14, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, airing live on NBC and streaming via Peacock.
